Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in the French city of Puy-de Domme on the 9th of August, 1976. She was the oldest of four children. Audrey's parents, both a dental dentist and teacher, were aware of and supported their daughter's enthusiasm for theater and drama at a young stage. Their support was more than enough to overcome her original ambition to be a the first primatologist. The rise of her as an actor in the young age was quick and marked by her early successes. When she first began the acting profession, she took part in Jeunes Premiers an French talent search TV program that was sponsored by Canal+ in 1998. Also, she was awarded the The award for the Best Young Actress in her performance in the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. While she attended The Institut Catholique de Paris and was a member of the church during her childhood, Tautou has distanced herself from the Catholic tradition, saying that she is not officially Catholic. Alongside her acting career, Tautou took up modeling and was the face for L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. She is a keen photographer and has recently exhibited during the Arles International Festival that was titled Superficial. Her photography is focused on celebrities, fame and the media who scrutinized her following her emergence on the scene in the film Amelie. Additionally, there are a number of photographs featuring her self. Audrey Tautou became a star and gained international recognition with her debut role as Amelie Poulain in Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie. Amelie was a film box office successes and received acclaim at awards galas across the world. It's the biggest French film in the history of French language to be made on the US. Following the release of this film, Tautou starred in numerous films ranging from British dramas up to Jean Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche de fiancailles. She then moved to Hollywood and was in the film with Tom Hanks alongside Ron Howard in The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.
